Teddy Bear Hood Crochet Pattern

This is a Beginner level pattern and can definitely be your first project if you have never crocheted before, so no worries! This pattern is made for an adult size head so if you are making a child size you will need to make adjustments.

Supplies

  • Hook size: 5mm & 5.5mm hook

  • any weight 4 yarn - I used the brand Red Heart Super Saver in the color "Cafe Latte"

  • Scissors

  • Crochet Needle

Stitches Used

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

hdc - half double crochet

BLO - back loop only

decrease - sc two stitches together

increase - place 2sc in the same stitch

Pattern Starts Here

Lets start with the Hood:

USING 5.5mm HOOK - Start by chaining 120

Row 1: hdc (starting in the 2nd chain from the hook), hdc in every stitch across, ch1, turn

Row 2-19: hdc in BLO across, ch1, turn

Fold the panel in half and sl st up the back, then place 17 sl stitches on the front side starting at the bottom. See drawing for clarification:

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Now lets make the ears!:

SWITCH TO 5.0mm HOOK

Round 1: 6sc into a magic ring, pull to close ring, (for this entire section you will be working continuously in the round, NO SL ST) (6)

Round 2: sc increase in each stitch (12)

Round 3: * sc increase, sc,* repeat (18)

Round 4: * sc increase, sc in the next 8 stitches,* repeat (20)

Round 5-6: sc in each stitch around (20)

Round 7: * sc decrease, sc in the next 8 stitches,* repeat (18)

Round 8: * sc decrease, sc in the next 4 stitches,* repeat (15), sl st, fasten off

Make 2 ears.

Flatten ears and attach 3.5inches (or 8 rows) back from the front opening and 3inches (or 9 stitches) apart from each other.

(You can also put on the hood and look in the mirror and place your ears where ever you want!)

Weave in ends!
